John Jackson has been a member and trustee of FoHVOS since 1989, and served as President from 2008-2015. He is the founder and president of Metricon Corporation, a small Pennington-based company which makes optical instrumentation used in semiconductor device and optical communication R&D and university research.  Prior to founding Metricon in 1980, he was employed as a member of the technical staff at Bell Laboratories.

John served on the Pennington Borough Environmental Commission from 1996 until 2019 and served as its chairman from 2002-2008.   Shortly after joining the EC, he proposed and obtained Borough Council approval for a voter referendum on an open space tax for the borough and led the campaign which resulted in its approval by the voters in 1998. He has been a member of the Pennington Open Space Advisory Committee since its inception following adoption of the open space tax.

John has resided in Pennington with his wife Carol since 1974.
